WAKJAPAN was elected as a model company promoting sustainable tourism.

Japan’s Ministry of Trade & Industry has appointed WAKJAPAN as an excellent company promoting sustainable tourism in Kyoto. The ministry’s scheme is to encourage people to set up an enterprise with the following objectives (and how WAK JAPAN respond to them):

1.Try and create job opportunities for local people – many WAKJAPAN ‘s attendants are ladies working at home raising children by cooking meals or making origami (folding paper) for children. They were not aware that their skills can let foreign tourists enjoy traditional culture experiences. These people are now working as attendants and they are really grateful that WAK JAPAN was successful in digging out their skills.

2.Promoting sustainable tourism – There are many beautiful traditional wooden structures in Kyoto, which have not been used for some time. By using these houses for cultural experiences, WAK JAPAN successfully kept them from getting decayed. Besides foreign travelers can enjoy authentic atmosphere.
