What you can enjoy in this program

Japanese families who have a daughter(s) normally decorate their houses with colourful tradtional dolls placed on 03th March every year. Platforms covered by a red felt like cloth are used to display a set of ornamental dolls called HINA-NINGYO representing the Emperor, Empress, attendants, and musicians in traditional court dress of the Heian period. The craftman who will teach you how to dress a girl doll is very well known for his high level skills to put clothes on dolls. A customer can enjoy getting help directly from such the craftman which even ordinary Japanese cannot easily access to.

Included in the fee:
1. A tour of the doll making studio with an explanation by the craftman with interepretation by WAKJAPAN English attendant.
2. A high quality Japanese girl doll.

Excluded are:
1. Small gadgets (decoration) to accompany your doll.

Procedure

  1. Please specify your preferred date when booking.
  2. WAKJAPAN will issue a CONFIRMATION with the map to the doll studio.
  3. Please come by yourself to the doll of the studio on the day of the tour. WAKJAPAN English speaking attendant will meet with you at the studio.
  4. Then the craftsman will explain about the doll making history and doll making procedure by showing around his studio. Here you can enjoy seeing dolls with various kinds of gorgeous costumes made by a well known craftsman of the royal warrant.

  5. After seeing beautiful dolls, then it is time for putting on kimono(traditional clothes) to a Japanese girl doll. Your will be given 2 or 3 sets of Kimono to choose from. Then the craftsman will teach you how to put on kimonos to your own doll.
  6. You can take your own doll back home.
