Home Visit & Culture Experience Program

Why not try Origami (Japanese traditional art of folding paper) and take some or your work back home? They can be very good hand-made souvenirs to your friends, relatives.

 

What you can enjoy in this program

"Origami" means paper-folding. Sheets of square paper can be folded into various shapes such as animals, flowers, furniture, toys, etc., normally without the use of scissors. Most Japanese people can make at least a few basic shapes such as crane, box, samurai warrior’s helmet. Our instructor will kindly advise you how to do Origami. You will be amazed by how Japanese people are skillful and you can be as skilful as they are too!

Time

2-2.5 hours (including round-trip taxi transfers)

Price

16,000 yen per person (based on 1 participant)
11,500 yen per person (based on 2 participants or more)

1. Extra charge will be required for the program outside business hours (Our business hours: 09:30-18:30)
2. Programs will be shortened if customers are late for the meeting time due to personal reasons.
3. We may have to use public transportation, depending on the location of your hotel.
4. Maximum: approximately 9 people (Customers may be divided into several groups depending on the number)
5. No discount for children.
6. Other foreign language speaking staff than English can be arranged at an extra charge.
7. Observers will be charged a full price as well.

 

Prices for other plans

Procedure

  1. You move to your instructor's house with the attendant by chartered taxi.
    The attendant introduce many things, basic information about Origami, Kyoto and Japan.
  2. Arrive at the house, and start the experience.
    As you arrive at the house, your instructor meets you. She/He introduces about her/himself firstly, your introduction, and then start a basic lecture about a history of Origami.
  3. You try many kinds of folding papers such as “Crane” which is well known in the world, for display and practical one you can use in your daily life.
  4. Take pictures of your work, spend your time with the instructor with Q & A, or enjoy the tour of the housewhile waiting a taxi come. You can take your works back home!
  5. Your taxi comes to the house. You leave your instructor's house and go back to your hotel with the attendant.
    The attendant will answer your requests and questions - about Origami, sightseeing plans.
  6. This course is finished when your attendant makes sure you arrive your hotel safely.

Culture Experience Short Program

For those who do not have enough time for home-visit course, WAK JAPAN offers Short experience programs. The courses are run of workshop basis and many people (maximum about 10 people) can share a program at the same time.
