Wearing Kimono

Home Visit & Culture Experience Program

Try putting on a colorful and gorgeous "Haregi"(Kimono of special/festive occasion). You can take photos of yourself by using your camera!

 

What you can enjoy in this program

Have a great time wearing gorgeous kimono! This plan is more than just a kimono-wearing. WAKJAPAN attendant explains about different types of Kimono, and traditional rules of which type of kimono should be worn on what occasions. Then she will help putting on kimono!

Time and Prices

Time

2-2.5 hours (including round-trip taxi transfers)

Price

16,000 yen per person (based on 1 participant)
11,500 yen per person (based on 2 participants or more)

1. Extra charge will be required for the program outside business hours (Our business hours: 09:30-18:30)
2. Programs will be shortened if customers are late for the meeting time due to personal reasons.
3. We may have to use public transportation, depending on the location of your hotel.
4. Maximum: approximately 9 people (Customers may be divided into several groups depending on the number)
5. No discount for children.
6. Other foreign language speaking staff than English can be arranged at an extra charge.
7. Observers will be charged a full price as well.

Tomiko Morikawa
As Professor of Sogetsu school, one of the top flower arrangement schools in Japan, I have teaching for over 40 years. I try to place flowers as many places in my house. Please come and enjoy seeing them as well as doing the arrangement itself.
 

Procedure

  1. Your attendant pick you up to your hotel lobby.
  2. You move to your instructor's house with the attendant by chartered taxi.
    The attendant introduce many things, basic information about Kimono, Kyoto and Japan.
  3. Arrive at the house, and start the experience.
    As you arrive at the house, your instructor meet you. She/He introduces about her/himself firstly, your introduction, and then start a basic lecture about a history of Kimono.
  4. We prepare 2 patterns of Kimono for a lady, you can choose your favorite one.
  5. After putting on the Kimono, you can take photos in Japanese style room or at Japanese garden (or a temple).We charge an additional fee in case of going out over 15 minutes.
  6. Your taxi comes to the house. You leave your instructor's house and go back to your hotel with the attendant.
 

Option

  • Tea Ceremony, Flower arrangement, Calligraphy, Japanese Dance, Kimon-Wearing, Koto-Playing, Japanese Language Lesson, Origami, Japanese Antiques, Fabric or Paper Craft. This course is ideal for those wanting to do a little more than just one experience.
  • Enjoy two courses at one time at a greatly reduced price.

Culture Experience Short Program

For those who do not have enough time for home-visit course, WAK JAPAN offers Short experience programs. The courses are run of workshop basis and many people (maximum about 10 people) can share a program at the same time.
