Fabric Craft

Home Visit & Culture Experience Program

Why not enjoy making small items (boxes, balls, dolls, etc) by using silk cloth. The silk cloth used to be a Japanese kimono which your tutor has kept for customers. You can make what you would find in a souvenir shop and take your work back home!

What you can enjoy in this program

Japanese people have been very conscious of ecology since several hundred years ago. Children’s toys were good examples made from old cloth. In this program you can make small items (balls, boxes, dolls, animals) by using several pieces of colorful old Japanese silk cloth, which used to be part of Kimono (traditional clothes). Another important point to note is that we always use silk instead of synthetic fiber cloth as silk is very flexible & strong as well as thin & beautiful.
