Mayumi Morooka
I have lived in Kyoto for over 30 years and remain fascinated by its rich cultural heritage. This has given me a unique "travelers" perspective that helps me share the charm of Kyoto with my clients. In addition to the many famous gardens, temples and shrines, I like to take my clients off the beaten path so they may experience the living, breathing Kyoto. Many of my clients have been able to experience first hand Kyoto's traditional arts and crafts.

Procedure

  1. Your tour guide meets with you at the hotel lobby area, and will explain today's schedule to you. Then depart! (Travel costs will be paid by customers)
  2. The first place for you to visit is a wealthy farmer's house built a few hundreds years ago. Meet with the house owner or his wife. Then she will show you a tour of the house with spacious garden and guest rooms, etc. You can hear how she is working hard to maintain the house and the garden. You can use your camera to take photos of yourself in the garden.
  3. Then we move on to the visit to a modern facility Sake brewery. There you will enjoy the tour of the brewery with an explanation of the staff, which will be followed by sample tasting of freshly brewed sake. Then we further move on to Fushimi Inari, a shinto shrine famous for its thousands of red torii gates. Behind the shrine building, lies a 2 hour hiking route in the mountain and the entire hiking route is covered by vermilion color torii gates. You can buy some foods on the way and eat while hiking or somewhere along the route.
  4. After Fushimi inari, the guide will leave you after 8 hours since meeting with you in the morning, but she will show you how to go back to your hotel.
Depending on the availability of the brewery and the farmhouse, the visiting order might be changed.
(Please note that travel costs and admissions will be paid by customers.)
