What you can enjoy in this program

Visit one of the best machiya (Kyoto’ traditional town house) available for WAK customers. Meet with the owner who will explain about the history, each room, and how he works to preserve the house with lattice work, etc. Take the train to go to Arashiyama, to enter Tenryu-ji temple (famous for the beautiful landscape garden) and to walk through atmospheric bamboo grove (below center) and view Katsuragawa river from Togetsukyo bridge(below left). Another charming temple "Gioji(below right)" can also be included.
*The tour is just an example. We are happy to tailor make your schedule in Kyoto.

Included in the fee:
1. All necessary things for machiya visit (Tour of the house by the house owner, Japanese tea and sweets, interpretation by WAKJAPAN English speaking attendant.)
2. Guiding fee.

Not included in the fee:
1. Admissions to temples/sightseeing places (Although a licensed guide can get free entries to major tourist attractions) and traveling costs.
2. Lunches (for customers and guides)

Chiaki Kobayashi

Procedure

  1. Please enquire via email by specifying your intended date(s) and places you wish to visit.
  2. WAKJAPAN will offer a suggested sightseeing route for you.
  3. If you are happy with the suggestion, please make a definite booking by paying by credit cards, Paypal, or bank transfer.
  4. WAKJAPAN will issue a CONFIRMATION with the names of the instructor and the guide 1-2 weeks prior to your arrival.
  5. WAKJAPAN's licensed tour guide will meet up with you at your hotel lobby or any other place you specify. Then go off and enjoy your day!
